Views on the future of medicine and healthcare were eagerly exchanged between international experts from science, industry and clinics at the XPOMET Medicinale 2019 from 10th until 12th October in Berlin. To learn from one another and make better use of the potentials of artificial intelligence and digitisation – this was the quintessence of the talks from Europe, USA, India, China and many more regions. Prof. Dr. Pascale Ehrenfreund, CEO of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), gave a speech about medical research for space and her technological-methodological contribution for diagnosis, intervention and care for us on earth. In the interview she describes the research competencies of the DLR-Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics in Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich, as well as the MIRO Innovation Lab in the field of medical robotics and projects from healthcare robotics, like for example SMiLE.
